TV shows and movies about global warming have become more noticeable and popular, as more people are concerned about the environment and want to educate others. Of course, there are also plenty of books about the subject, but most people today would prefer to sit and watch a film.

One of the best known books is An Inconvenient Truth, by Al Gore, and this is also the title of a feature length documentary as well. Gore has given a power point presentation on global warming many times during his career, and the film is basically a movie version of this presentation, outlining the facts in a low key kind of way. The popular CBS show 60 Minutes aired a documentary in April, 2007 which is required viewing for anyone who is at all interested in the subject. One of the best fictional movies about climate change and global warming is The Day After Tomorrow, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Dennis Quaid. The special effects in this film are nothing short of spectacular, and although the scientific facts presented are probably exaggerated and inaccurate, it is a very entertaining movie.

One of the most unique approaches to the subject is adopted by the movie Crisis as Opportunity: Living Better on a Hotter Planet, by Dr. Elisabet Sahtouris. Sahtouris takes the view that global warming is an inevitable and natural process and she regrds it as a a way to bring people together.

The energy crisis is addressed in the film Energy Crossroads: A Burning Need to Change Course, and the movie looks at the predicted oil reserve amounts and how to deal with the situation of having a shortage of oil. The movie points out that we all need to make changes due to global warming and that the issue is directly related to the energy crisis.

One of the movies in the series Secrets of the Millennium also addresses the issue of global warming, and is called Secrets of the Millennium: Man vs. Nature: Who Will Win? It points out that humans have neglected the planet from an environmental point of view, while at the same time have desired to control the earth and its resources.

The issue of global warming is of concern to everyone, and many celebrities have used their position and their popularity to try to get their opinion or message across.
