Enya - The River Sings
A ray of light shines in through the curtains
The sun glints against the patterns on the floor
The day is just beginning
Birds are singing on the rooftop
And the post is just coming through the door.
In a minute the day will really start,
And you'll get up to the sound of the alarm
Then you'll have to rise
Before you even open your eyes
You must get up and go to work on time.
It's not yet time to get up so I turn
And pull the covers over my head
The day will have to keep
I am almost back to sleep
And am not yet ready to leave my bed.
But just before we get up
I like to lay awake in these early hours
Watch the rising of the light
The banishing of night,
And feeling that the day to come is ours.

Hello Moira, I have to compliment you on your "honest" poetry- I call it beautiful too because it does not hide from reality. I myself have written here on HubPages about the way the beauty of the morning. I plan on reading more of your hubs. I hope you read mine. I love reading hubs by fellow Filipinas!
